Diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment methods.

General Information About Premenstrual Syndrome

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is the general name for the physical and emotional changes that women experience in the 1-2 weeks before their menstrual bleeding begins. Due to hormonal fluctuations, breast tenderness, bloating, headache, irritability, and emotional swings are observed. This syndrome, which decreases the quality of life, can be alleviated by lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, and medical support.

It is a cluster of physical, behavioral, and emotional symptoms that appear in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (1-2 weeks before bleeding) and disappear with the onset of bleeding.
What Causes It?
Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone hormones during the menstrual cycle, changes in serotonin (the happiness hormone) levels in the brain, and genetic predisposition are the main causes.
