General Information About Cancer
Disease Details and Frequently Asked Questions
Cells in our body normally age and die, and new ones are made to replace them. However, radiation, cigarette toxins, or genetic errors corrupt the cell's DNA code. The corrupted cell continues to multiply instead of dying, and trillions of faulty cells combine to form a cancer mass.
Benign tumors are NOT cancer; they simply grow and do not spread to other organs. Malignant tumors are CANCER; they invade surrounding tissues, rot them, enter blood vessels, and sow their seeds in other parts of the body.
It is the most deadly feature of cancer. It is when cancer cells breaking away from the tumor growing in the primary organ enter the blood or lymph pathways and travel to distant organs like the liver, brain, lungs, or bones to establish new tumor colonies there (Stage 4 Cancer).
Sudden and very rapid weight loss without dieting, unexplained pain lasting for weeks, palpable hard masses anywhere on the body (breast/neck), bleeding from the rectum or in the urine, unhealing wounds, and persistent coughs.
Today, cancer is not incurable. In the early stages, complete healing is achieved by entirely removing the tumor with Surgery. Chemotherapy (medication) and Radiotherapy (radiation) are applied to kill the cells. The biggest revolution in recent years has been Smart Drugs that directly target the genetics of the cancer, and Immunotherapy treatments that provoke the immune system to attack the cancer.
