The procedure is performed entirely intraorally (inside the mouth). A small incision of about 1 centimeter is made on the inside of the cheek (behind the teeth), and the fat pads are pulled out from there. Since no incision is made on the outside of the face, absolutely no scar is left on the outside.
Yes. Depending on the patient's preference and the doctor's assessment, it can be performed in clinical conditions by numbing only that area (local anesthesia), or it can be done with mild sedation. The procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
Immediately after the surgery, a slight edema (swelling) occurs in the cheeks that will last for a few weeks. It usually takes 1 to 3 months for the cheeks to fully thin out, for those targeted sharp lines (hollowing) to emerge, and for the final result to settle.
