Eyelid Aesthetics (Blepharoplasty)

Plastic or Eye surgeons perform this surgery with "hidden incision" techniques. The incision on the upper eyelid is made exactly on the natural fold line of the lid, and the incision on the lower eyelid is made just below the eyelash roots (or from inside the eye through the conjunctiva). Therefore, after the stitches are removed and the healing is complete, there is no noticeable scar when viewed from the outside.

If only upper eyelid aesthetics are to be performed, it is usually done under Local Anesthesia (by numbing only the eyelids) while the patient is awake in a clinical setting and takes 45 minutes. However, if both lower and upper eyelids are to be done together, mild sedation (sleep) or general anesthesia is preferred for the patient's comfort.

Because the tissue around the eyes is loose, it is normal to have edema (swelling) and bruising for the first 2-3 days after surgery. With the application of ice and special creams, these bruises quickly turn yellow and dissipate. Stitches are usually removed on the 5th-7th day, and the patient can return to their normal work life at the end of the first week.
