How and Where to Get a Blood Group Card?

About the Article

A blood group card is an approved medical identification document by medical experts that officially states a person's blood group (A, B, AB, or O) and Rh factor (Positive or Negative). It holds vital importance especially in driver's license applications, military service conscription processes, pre-surgery records, or traffic accidents requiring urgent blood transfusions.

Guide to Obtaining an Official Blood Group Document

The process of documenting blood type, institutions where the test is performed, and validity status.
From which health institutions can a blood group card be obtained?

Blood group determination is done with a simple blood test. You can get this test and the official card within minutes in exchange for a small procedure at State or Private Hospitals, Health Clinics (Family Medicine Centers), Kızılay (Red Crescent) Blood Donation Centers, and Ministry of Health-approved private medical analysis laboratories.

Can the document be obtained via E-Devlet (E-Government) or E-Nabız?

If your blood group has been previously measured at a hospital and entered into the system, you can log into your E-Nabız application and download the official barcoded document showing your blood group as a PDF from the "My Profile" or "My Tests" tab, and use it at official institutions like driver's license applications (instead of a physical card).

How is the blood group test performed, is fasting required?

Only 1-2 drops of blood from a fingertip or a vein are required for the test. Antibodies are dripped onto the blood sample to observe clumping (agglutination), and the group is determined within seconds. It absolutely does not matter whether you are full or fasting for this test.
