About the Treatment Method
The Parent, Adult, and Child Within Us
According to TA, three different people live inside all of us: - **Child ego:** It is the part of us where we act with our emotions, our desires, or with rebellion (sulking, crying, being joyful). - **Parent ego:** It is the part of us (copied from our parents) that sets rules, criticizes, gives advice, judges, or overprotects. - **Adult ego:** It is the logical part of us that analyzes data and produces solutions without getting carried away by emotions.
Most communication conflicts arise from the collision of ego states (Crossed Transaction). For example; when you ask your spouse a question like an "Adult" (What time are we leaving?), if they reply by scolding you like a "Parent" (Stop asking me the time constantly!), a fight breaks out. The therapist deciphers the way you and your partner talk and pulls the communication into a healthy "Adult - Adult" line.
It is a system that instantly increases a person's awareness not only in clinical psychology or depression treatment; but especially in couple/marriage therapies, in corporate companies (leadership training and in-team discord), and in raising children and adolescents.
