About the Treatment Method
Vaccine Types and Treatment Process
There are two main methods of administration. The first is the Subcutaneous (subcutaneous injection) method; it is injected into the arm with a thin needle. The second is the Sublingual (sublingual drop/tablet) method; the patient can self-administer it every day by dropping it under the tongue at home.
The treatment begins by introducing the substance to which the patient is allergic into the body in microscopic doses. The body is taught not to overreact. Later, the dose is gradually increased over months (maintenance dose), allowing the immune system to perceive that substance as a "normal" substance rather than an "enemy".
The allergy vaccine is not like a short-term antibiotic treatment; it is a long-term marathon. In order to achieve permanent and definitive immune tolerance, the vaccination program must be maintained continuously for 3 to 5 years. Its effects begin to be strongly felt from the 6th month of treatment.
