About the Treatment Method
Causes of Surgery and the Aftermath
Today, the biggest causes of amputations are non-healing foot ulcers developing due to diabetes (Diabetic Foot) and vascular occlusions. This is followed by severe traumas such as traffic/work accidents and malignant bone cancers.
It is the condition where patients feel itching, tingling, or pain in their amputated (no longer existing) arms or legs. It is caused by the severed nerve endings still sending signals to the brain and is managed with neurological drugs or physical therapy.
It is expected for the wound to heal completely and the edema to subside after the surgery (usually 4 to 8 weeks). After the stump (remaining limb part) is shaped, the use of modern prostheses prepared with customized measurements for the patient begins, and walking exercises are performed with physical therapy.
