Ankle Arthroscopy

About the Treatment Method

Ankle Arthroscopy is a modern orthopedic intervention that enables the treatment of damage occurring in the ankle joint due to traumas, sprains, or calcifications without the need for open surgery. With a high-resolution camera and fine hand tools inserted through 2 or 3 millimetric holes opened around the joint, cartilage lesions, impingement syndromes, and loose bone fragments inside the joint are detected and repaired simultaneously.

Surgical Application and Advantages

The process and benefits of closed ankle surgery.

It is used in repairing ligament tears developing after recurrent ankle sprains, removing cartilage fragments that have fallen into the joint called "joint mice", treating footballer's ankle (anterior impingement) syndrome, and cleaning rheumatic membranes (synovia).

Since the joint capsule and surrounding connective tissues are not cut widely, postoperative pain and swelling are very slight. Depending on the type of procedure performed (cartilage shaving or ligament suturing), the patient is generally discharged on the same day and starts walking by putting weight on it much earlier.
