Low Vision Rehabilitation Treatment

About the Treatment Method

Low Vision Rehabilitation is a comprehensive support program applied to patients whose vision level has fallen below meeting daily needs despite all current medical or surgical treatments (for example, due to Macular Degeneration, advanced Glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy). The goal is not to completely cure the patient, but to ensure that the patient uses their remaining "5% - 10%" vision capacity in the most efficient way (reading, watching television) with special magnifiers, telescopic glasses, and training.

Rehabilitation Process and Devices

Optical devices and life adaptation for those with low vision.

The goal of rehabilitation is not to heal (treat) damaged nerves or cells. It is to enable the person to achieve the independence of taking care of their own needs by activating the patient's undestroyed healthy retinal tissues with the help of optical magnifying systems.

Mini telescopic systems that can be mounted on glasses to increase distance vision, illuminated electronic magnifiers for close reading, and prismatic special lenses are specially prescribed by experts according to the patient's needs (reading, sewing, walking outside).

No. Although it is mostly used in the older age group due to macular degeneration disease, this rehabilitation is successfully applied to children and young people with congenital retinal anomalies or genetic diseases so that they can continue their school lives.
