Bichectomy (Cheek Thinning Aesthetics)

About the Treatment Method

Bichectomy (Hollywood Cheek) is the surgical removal of excess fat tissue (Bichat fat pads) located on the inside of the cheeks to make the cheekbones more prominent and to make facial features appear thinner (V-shaped). It is a highly popular plastic surgery intervention that allows people with genetically round or chubby faces to achieve much sharper, more attractive, and aesthetic facial features.

Operation and Recovery

Details of the cheek fat removal surgery and the subsequent process.
How is the surgery performed, will there be a scar on the face?

The procedure is performed entirely intraorally (inside the mouth). A small incision of about 1 centimeter is made on the inside of the cheek (behind the teeth), and the fat pads are pulled out from there. Since no incision is made on the outside of the face, absolutely no scar is left on the outside.

Can it be done with local anesthesia?

Yes. Depending on the patient's preference and the doctor's assessment, it can be performed in clinical conditions by numbing only that area (local anesthesia), or it can be done with mild sedation. The procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes.

Are the results seen immediately?

Immediately after the surgery, a slight edema (swelling) occurs in the cheeks that will last for a few weeks. It usually takes 1 to 3 months for the cheeks to fully thin out, for those targeted sharp lines (hollowing) to emerge, and for the final result to settle.
