About the Treatment Method
Nasal conchae (Turbinates) are spongy tissues located on the inner side walls of our nose, responsible for warming, moisturizing, and filtering the air we breathe. The procedure applied when these tissues swell more than necessary (Turbinate Hypertrophy) due to allergies, smoking, or infections and block the airway is called nasal concha surgery. The most preferred method today is the Radiofrequency method, which allows shrinking the tissue solely with radio waves without cutting it.

How does the radiofrequency method work?
The needle-shaped probe of a special device is placed inside the nasal concha (turbinate) and radiofrequency energy (heat) is delivered. This heat creates shrinkage (coagulation) in the inner parts of the tissue. Since there is no cutting process, there is no bleeding. The procedure takes a total of 10-15 minutes for both nostrils.
Are tampons placed in the nose after surgery?
This is the biggest advantage of the radiofrequency method; since bleeding is minimal, there is usually no need to put tampons inside the nose. The patient can breathe comfortably and go home after the procedure.
