DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB Vaccine (Hexavalent Vaccine)

About the Treatment Method

The Hexavalent Vaccine (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB) is an essential childhood vaccine that protects babies against 6 different life-threatening infectious diseases all at once. This vaccine provides life-long protection for children by educating the immune system against Diphtheria, acellular Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Tetanus, Inactivated Polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b (causing Meningitis), and Hepatitis B.

Vaccination Schedule and Effects

Application times and side effects of the combination vaccine in babies.
When is the hexavalent vaccine administered?

According to the national vaccination schedule of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health, the hexavalent vaccine is administered to babies in a total of 3 doses (primary doses) at the end of the 2nd month, at the end of the 4th month, and at the end of the 6th month. Then, a booster dose is given in the 18th month.

Are there any side effects?

Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness may be seen on the injected leg within 24-48 hours after vaccination. Mild restlessness, loss of appetite, and low-grade fever (around 38°C) are quite normal and expected in babies. They usually disappear on their own within a day or two.

What happens if the vaccine is not administered?

If these vaccines are not administered, babies remain completely vulnerable to fatal shortness of breath caused by whooping cough, permanent brain damage that meningitis can create, or life-long physical disabilities due to polio.
