Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

About the Treatment Method

Teeth whitening (Bleaching) is the process of permanently lightening the color of the tooth enamel and dentin layer—which have yellowed or stained due to tea, coffee, red wine, smoking, or aging and genetic factors—by several shades (between 2 to 6 shades) using special hydrogen peroxide-based gels and light/laser activators. The stains on the tooth surface are oxidized and erased, resulting in a much brighter and aesthetic smile.

Whitening Methods and Their Effects

Teeth whitening techniques applied in the clinic and at home.
What is the difference between In-Office and At-Home whitening?

In-office (Clinical) whitening is a method that takes about 45-60 minutes in the dentist's chair, using high-concentration gel and a laser beam to achieve rapid results in a single session. In at-home whitening, transparent aligners suitable for the patient's mouth measurement are produced; the patient squeezes lower concentration gel into this aligner and applies it at home for a few hours a day for 1-2 weeks.

Does it damage the teeth or enamel?

As long as it is done under the supervision of a dentist and with approved professional materials, the teeth whitening process does not cause structural damage to the enamel or decay the tooth. It may only cause a temporary hot/cold sensitivity that can last for a few days after the procedure.

Is the whiteness permanent for a lifetime?

No whitening procedure is permanent for a lifetime. The duration of the achieved whiteness varies between 1 and 3 years, depending on the patient's tea, coffee, and smoking habits. If needed, the procedure can be safely repeated in subsequent years.
