Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (Non-Surgical Gastric Sleeve)

About the Treatment Method

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (Stomach Folding) is a revolutionary procedure in bariatric surgery in which the stomach is folded and reduced (made into a tube) from the inside with stitches by entering completely through the mouth with an endoscopy device without making any incisions on the abdomen. It is a "non-surgical gastric sleeve" method that does not cause organ loss, applied to patients whose Body Mass Index is not at the surgical limit (mild/moderate obese) but who cannot lose weight with a diet.

Stomach Folding Method and Weight Loss Effect

Differences of the endoscopic slimming procedure compared to surgical gastric sleeve.
What is the difference from Surgical Gastric Sleeve (Sleeve Gastrectomy)?

In surgical gastric sleeve, 80% of the stomach is cut, removed from the body, and thrown away (it is irreversible). In the endoscopic method, however, the stomach is not cut; it is merely folded on top of itself like an accordion, stitched from the inside, and its volume is reduced. The stomach tissue remains inside and the procedure can be reversed if necessary.

How long does the procedure take, is hospitalization required?

The procedure is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia (while asleep) and takes about 1-1.5 hours. Since there is no incision, the pain is minimal. Patients usually stay in the hospital for 1 night for control purposes and can easily return home the next day.

How much weight loss is achieved?

Because the volume of the stomach is reduced, patients get full quickly with very small portions. When lifestyle is changed accompanied by an expert dietitian, patients can permanently lose 15% to 20% of their total body weight within the first 1 year.
