Yes. Endoscopy is a general term meaning "to examine the inside of the body with a camera". The examination of the stomach is called Gastroscopy, and the examination of the large intestine is called Colonoscopy. However, when people say endoscopy, they generally mean stomach examination (gastroscopy).
In today's modern hospitals, gastroscopy procedures are performed accompanied by an anesthesiologist with a sleep method called "deep sedation". The patient sleeps completely during the procedure, absolutely does not experience the feeling of choking, pain, or the gag reflex, and does not remember the procedure.
It is not just viewed; gastroscopy is also a treatment and biopsy tool. If an ulcerative lesion is seen during the procedure, a biopsy can be taken with millimetric forceps, if there is a bleeding vessel, it can be stopped by attaching a clip, or if there is a polyp in the stomach, it can be completely cut and removed. All of this is done in seconds while the patient is asleep.
