Hyperthermia (Cancer Treatment)

About the Treatment Method

Hyperthermia is the process of heating body tissues or a regional tumor in a controlled manner (usually between 40°C and 43°C) with special devices. This complementary oncology method, applied in addition to Radiotherapy (radiation) and Chemotherapy treatments, directly weakens or kills cancer cells that cannot withstand heat; its main purpose is to exponentially increase the tumor-destroying power of the received chemotherapy and radiotherapy by increasing the blood supply to the tumor.

Fighting Cancer with Heat

Integration of the hyperthermia method with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Does hyperthermia alone treat cancer?

Generally no. In medical guidelines, hyperthermia is not considered a miracle treatment on its own; it is always regarded as a powerful support force (radiosensitizer) that "sharpens the weapon" of those treatments when used simultaneously with Radiotherapy or Chemotherapy.

How does it heat the tumor area?

Special radio frequency (RF), microwave, or ultrasound devices (probes) are placed on or around the patient's cancerous area. While only the tumorous tissue in that area is heated deeply, the surface of the skin is protected from burning thanks to advanced cooling systems.

Are healthy cells also harmed by this heat?

Because cancer cells have abnormal vascular structures, they cannot dissipate heat from the body, and at 42 degrees, their protein structures break down and they begin to die. Healthy tissues, on the other hand, protect themselves by sweating or dissipating the heat with blood thanks to their normal blood circulation. Therefore, it is a selective and safe treatment.
