Thanks to special tissue-shredding devices called "Morcellators" located at the tip of the laparoscopic instruments, a large myoma or uterus inside the abdomen is divided into small strips like a meat grinder inside a closed bag and easily pulled out through those 1-centimeter holes.

During the surgery, the abdomen is inflated with harmless Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas so that the surgeon can see inside comfortably and the organs separate from each other. Although this gas is emptied at the end of the surgery, the small amount of gas remaining inside can stimulate the diaphragm nerve, creating a slight pain or stinging sensation in the shoulders and back for the first few days. This condition passes quickly as you walk.
