Closed Rhinoplasty (Scarless Nose Aesthetics)

About the Treatment Method

Closed Rhinoplasty is the technique of performing the surgery to correct the aesthetic or functional problems of the nose (arched nose, droopy nasal tip, wide nose) entirely through the nostrils without making any incisions on the skin outside the nose. All stitches remain inside the nose. This method, which especially relies on the surgeon's experience, aims to preserve tissue integrity and not cut the nasal tip ligaments.

Comparison with Open Rhinoplasty

Aesthetic and recovery advantages of the closed method.
What is the difference and advantage over open rhinoplasty?

In open rhinoplasty, the pillar (columella) between the nostrils is cut and the nasal skin is lifted completely; the surgeon does everything by seeing it, but a stitch scar, even if hairline, remains on the tip of the nose. In closed rhinoplasty, however, no external incision is made; there is no external stitch scar. Moreover, since the lymph channels and ligaments at the tip of the nose are not cut, the healing and edema resolution process is much faster compared to open surgery.

Does it have a disadvantage, can it be done to every nose?

Since the field of vision in the closed technique is narrow, it can challenge the surgeon in very complex cases with severe curvatures (advanced revision) or very severe nasal tip asymmetry. For this reason, while the open technique is often preferred in excessively problematic noses, the closed technique is more preferred in standard aesthetic corrections.

When can I return to work after surgery?

Thanks to developing bone shaping tools (Piezo/Ultrasonic surgery, etc.), bruising is very minimal. After surgery, a splint is placed on the bridge of the nose. On about the 7th day, the splint and the internal silicone splints are removed. The patient can easily return to their social life within 1 week.
