Migraine Botox

About the Treatment Method

Migraine botox is a very effective neurological treatment approved by the FDA, applied not only for aesthetic purposes to eliminate wrinkles but also to stop pain attacks in chronic migraine patients (who suffer from headaches for at least 15 days a month). Botulinum toxin injections made with fine needles to specific nerve compression points in the head and neck region block the transmission of pain signals to the brain, preventing the triggering of a migraine.

The Effect of Botox on Chronic Headaches

The areas where the procedure is performed and the duration of effectiveness.
Where are the injections given, will the shape of my face change?

Migraine botox has a completely different protocol (PREEMPT protocol) from aesthetic botox. The needles are applied not only to the forehead but also to the temples, the back of the head, the nape, and the muscles above the shoulder (a total of 31 different points). Since the doses target deep nerve roots, not superficial muscles, it does not create an aesthetic mask dullness or deformity on your face.

How long does its effect last, does it need to be repeated?

A serious relief in pain begins within 1-2 weeks after the application. Its effect lasts an average of 12 weeks (3 months). To establish a successful protective shield, it is very important that the treatment is repeated every 3-4 months, for a total of 3 or 4 sessions, to break the pain habit of the nerves.

Does it work for every headache?

No. It provides no benefit in cluster-type headaches or tension-type headaches. It shows high success only in patients who have been diagnosed with "Chronic Migraine" by a Neurology specialist and are resistant to medications.
