Ovulation Timing and Pregnancy
Due to the body's biological clock, the egg ovulates approximately 34 to 36 hours after the hCG (trigger) injection is given. For this reason, the egg retrieval procedure (OPU) in IVF or the insemination procedure is planned millimetrically to coincide exactly with this 36th hour. Not missing the time of the injection is of vital importance.
Yes. These injections are prepared similarly to insulin pens or small syringes and have very thin, short needles. They are usually applied by the patient to the subcutaneous (under the skin) fat tissue around the belly button easily and completely painlessly.
Experiencing mild cramps, bloating, and a stinging sensation in the groins in the days following the injection is a normal indicator that the egg has ovulated. Rarely, severe bloating due to ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS) may be experienced, in which case the doctor must be informed.
