General Information About the Test
It is an advanced cardiological test that provides three-dimensional (3D) imaging of heart structure and functions using sound waves. Compared to traditional two-dimensional echocardiography, it provides much more detailed and real-time anatomical information about the heart's valves, chambers, and muscle movements. It has a critical role especially in the diagnosis of heart valve diseases and congenital heart anomalies.

In which situations is it requested?
It is requested in pre-planning for heart valve repair or replacement, detailed analysis of heart failure, evaluation of intracardiac masses (tumor, clot), and diagnosis of congenital heart diseases.
Does it involve radiation?
No. Echocardiography works entirely on the principle of sound waves (ultrasound). Since it does not contain any radiation (X-ray), it is extremely safe even for pregnant women and children.
Is fasting required before the test?
Fasting or special preparation is not required for transthoracic (via the chest) echocardiography. The patient can continue taking their daily medications normally.
