No. Echocardiography works entirely on the principle of sound waves (ultrasound). Since it does not contain any radiation (X-ray), it is extremely safe even for pregnant women and children.
Fasting or special preparation is not required for transthoracic (via the chest) echocardiography. The patient can continue taking their daily medications normally.
