Chest X-Ray

General Information About the Test

It is a basic radiological examination that provides imaging of the lungs, heart, airways, blood vessels, and bones of the rib cage. It is one of the most frequently used methods in pulmonology and cardiology practice. It allows the rapid diagnosis of conditions such as pneumonia, bronchitis, collapsed lung (pneumothorax), enlarged heart, and chest trauma.

Test Process and Preparation

Information about chest X-ray imaging and radiological processes.
How long does the imaging take?

The procedure, including the preparation phase, takes a few minutes. It is sufficient for the patient to assume the correct position in front of the X-ray machine and hold their breath for just a few seconds.

Is any special preparation required?

No special physical preparation or fasting is required. However, before the imaging, patients are asked to remove metallic objects from the chest area, such as necklaces, metal buttons, or bras, which could affect image quality.

Can pregnant women have a chest X-ray?

Since it involves X-rays (radiation), it is not routinely performed during pregnancy or in cases of suspected pregnancy. If there is an absolute medical necessity, it can be performed with physician approval using special lead aprons that protect the abdominal area.
