Anti-CCP Test

General Information About the Test

Anti-CCP (Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide) is a highly specific blood test used in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory rheumatism), which occurs when the immune system attacks its own joint tissues. It plays a critical role in early diagnosis and treatment planning because it can become positive in the blood even years before the disease presents clinical symptoms.

Test Process and Preparation

Information regarding the Anti-CCP test measurement and what to know before the test.
In which situations is it requested?

It is requested if there are symptoms suggesting rheumatoid arthritis, such as joint pain that is particularly pronounced in the morning, joint swelling, increased localized temperature, and morning stiffness.

Is fasting required for the test?

Generally, fasting or special preparation is not required for the Anti-CCP test. It can be performed by drawing blood from an arm vein at any time of the day.

What is the difference from the Rheumatoid Factor (RF) test?

Rheumatoid Factor (RF) is also used for a similar purpose, but Anti-CCP is much more specific to rheumatoid arthritis and has a lower probability of yielding a false-positive result. Usually, both tests are evaluated together.
