General Information About the Test
Test Process and Preparation
It is administered to individuals with chest pain complaints, those at risk of a heart attack, for the follow-up of patients who have previously had a stent placed or undergone bypass surgery, and to athletes to measure their exercise capacity.
The walking duration is generally between 10-15 minutes, depending on the patient's age and performance. The test is immediately terminated by the doctor when the target heart rate is reached, or if the patient experiences chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or an abnormal change is observed on the ECG.
Eating must be stopped 2-3 hours before the test (only water is allowed). Patients must arrive wearing sweatpants and comfortable sports shoes. The doctor should be consulted regarding whether to take current blood pressure or rhythm medications on the morning of the test.
