ECG Test

General Information About the Test

ECG (Electrocardiography) is the fundamental cardiology test that graphically records the heart's electrical activity, rhythm, and heart rate onto millimetric paper via electrodes placed on the skin. It is the primary examination method that provides results in seconds in the emergency diagnosis of a heart attack (myocardial infarction), detection of rhythm disorders (arrhythmia), and conditions such as heart muscle thickening.

Test Process and Preparation

ECG recording process and things to know.

It is a very fast procedure. The total recording time, including the preparation of the patient and the attachment of the electrodes, takes only 2-3 minutes.

Absolutely not. The ECG device does not transmit electricity to the body; instead, it listens to and records the very small electrical currents produced by the heart. It is completely safe and risk-free.

It does not require any fasting or preliminary preparation. It is sufficient to dress in a way that the chest, wrists, and ankles remain exposed so the electrodes can make good contact with the skin. In male patients, very dense chest hair may need to be shaved for the electrodes to adhere properly.
