General Information About the Test
Test Process and Preparation
Because the oxygen-carrying capacity is reduced, tissues cannot be adequately nourished; this leads to symptoms such as constant weakness, fatigue, pale skin, palpitations, hair loss, and shortness of breath.
When the body is deprived of oxygen, it produces more blood cells to compensate. Smoking, living at high altitudes, chronic lung diseases (COPD), or bone marrow diseases can excessively increase the erythrocyte count.
It is analyzed using a single tube of blood sample drawn from the arm (Hemogram). Although fasting is not strictly required, routine panels are preferred to be done on an empty stomach in the morning.
