Test Process and Preparation
In the EMR method, very large lesions are removed piece by piece (by tearing), which increases the risk of disease recurrence (relapse). In the ESD method, even if the tumor is very large, it is completely removed in a single piece by scraping underneath it, ensuring a complete and definitive treatment.
The ESD procedure requires a very high level of endoscopic experience, technical skill, and special equipment. The duration of the procedure can vary between 1 and 4 hours depending on the size of the lesion.
The procedure is performed under deep sedation or general anesthesia. Patients are generally hospitalized for 1 to 3 days to be kept under close observation for possible post-procedure complications such as bleeding or perforation.
