General Information About the Test
Test Process and Preparation
Because most hormones (especially TSH, Cortisol, Prolactin, and Insulin) are affected by daily diet and stress factors, it is generally preferred that they be given between 08:00 - 10:00 in the morning, after a full overnight fast.
For the most accurate evaluation of female hormones such as FSH, LH, and Estradiol (E2), it is very important that the blood sample is given on the 2nd or 3rd day of menstrual bleeding.
Hormones like prolactin and cortisol are highly sensitive to stress. You should get a good night's sleep before giving blood, avoid excessive exercise, and rest by sitting for 10-15 minutes before having your blood drawn when you arrive at the hospital in the morning.
