Test Process and Preparation
It is requested by oncologists particularly for patients with tumors in hard-to-reach and risky areas like lung cancer, who are unsuitable for traditional biopsies, or for the purpose of frequently monitoring whether the cancer has developed resistance (mutation changes) during the treatment process.
Currently, it has not yet 100% replaced tissue biopsy for all diseases. Tissue biopsy remains the gold standard in cancer diagnosis; however, liquid biopsy is an excellent supportive and monitoring method, and a lifesaver in situations where tissue cannot be extracted.
It is processed using a blood sample collected in special tubes, just like a normal blood test. Because it requires DNA isolation and next-generation sequencing (NGS), the results can take 10 to 15 days, depending on the laboratory's infrastructure.
